Family therapy is given by psychiatrists to help the family members to communicate effectively among each other and to resolve the issues without facing stressful situations. Therapy is focused on strengthening family bonds and teaching lessons about overcoming difficult situations in the family. It helps in improving the strained relations between married couples, between parents and children or between any other family members.

The therapy helps in resolving all kinds of issues that crop up in the family to deal with financial issues between family members, or marital problems or mental illness. A family therapy also helps in identifying whether a family member or relative has got some other mental illness like schizophrenia. This type of disorder will require separate treatment in addition to the usual family therapy.

Family therapy does not solve the family issues in one go rather it helps in understanding each other better and teach the skills to handle the issues effectively as well. It only strengthens the relationship. The treatment method uses a number of techniques depending on the conditions that are in the family and the type of problems that need to be resolved with other members.
